Meaning those who bought on margin will have to add money to their trades, or TP.

Relax everyone.... The Capping as stated below is a change to how much banks are willing to lend to those investing on margin. For example before today, if a stock is valued at RM10 at closing, the bank will allow you to buy a share for 50% of that, financing the remaining RM5. With a 35% reduction, now banks will only cover (50% * 10(100%-35%)) = RM 3.25, meaning you would have to finance RM6.75 (35% up).

This is just their way of protecting themselves for those trading in a market that is only becoming more volatile due to the nature of this industry, global situation, and the extraordinarily aggresive bull run so that in the case they lose money, they won;t have to go through the trouble of collecting all that debt.

Please correct me if I am wrong, this is what I understand from the announcement.

Those who had bought on margin are confronted with either adding money to their trade, or locking in profits - hence the sell today.

Sales affected by MCO is only after March 16. QR is audited up until 31/march, if there are any decreases it is likely it will only be slight.

For those who have seen Moderna's preliminary 'positive' results for a Covid vaccine, please note the trial showed positive results in 8 people only and historically vaccines require a tremendous amount of testing (averaging 2 years over a tens of thousands of people) to ensure safety as minor complications can lead to complications worse than the disease itself.

Timeline wise covid is here to stay for the foreseeable future with the majority of the US news and medical community around the world discouraging the use of any vaccine without proper testing.

Here is an article from the NYT for your further reading: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/18/health/coronavirus-vaccine-moderna.html

Not telling anybody to buy or sell, you can make your own decision after reading.

Hope everyone can do well and happy trading.

"According to Bursa Malaysia's results, average daily trading volume increased 22% in 1Q20 which ultimately led to a 34% increase in its quarterly net profit. Bursa Malaysia earns a fee on trading volume, hence it is an obvious beneficiary of the recent increase in trading volume. However, Bursa Malaysia's share price has performed well, it is now 13% from reaching its 5-year high of RM8.07."

"While 1Q was good in terms of trading volume, 2Q will be better. Total shares traded hit 89bil for the month of March 2019, but in April 2020, that figure was 116bil shares traded - an increase of 30%. Despite the higher number of public holidays, the month of May 2020 will likely exceed April 2020 as we have seen record trading activity take place over the past week."

"However, my chosen proxy to ride on the rising trade volume are the trading platform providers, comprising of EFORCE and N2N. This is because both companies earn a fee on total volume traded on their platforms. As you might be aware, EFORCE is the platform provider for Maybank, among others while N2N provides the platform for CIMB. Besides just the trading fee, the sudden rise in trading volume requires brokerages to invest more in front-end and back-end software and conduct more maintenance."

"While trading volumes are at a 11-year high, only comparable to the month of May 2009, EFORCE and N2N current trade significantly below their 5-year share price highs. EFORCE trades at a 67% while N2N at a 37% discount. This implies a 207% upside to its 5-year share price high (RM1.63) for EFORCE and 58% for N2N (RM1.33). Bear in mind, Bursa Malaysia is only 13% from its 5-year high."

----

On top of higher commissions due to recent increases in trading volume, brokerages NEED to invest more in front/back-end software and conduct more maintenance as most platforms have been wonky due to abnormal use.

Hi Calvin, thanks for all your research and effort - we all appreciate it very much. I have a question that I hope you can answer....
I can understand the thought processes behind your confidence in this counter, however do you think the drop in crude oil and the profit gained from the surge in demand for ethanol is enough to pivot the company from being loss making to profitable? Thanks for your time.
