What is "The 344-MW Kokhav Hayarden pumped storage hydropower plant"? First time reading this type of renewable energy!! Brief understanding:
- two natural reservoirs at two different heights.
- potential energy from the top reservoir will drive turbines near the bottom reservoir in a controlled closed environment?
- the bottom reservoir is "the lower reservoir, which lies 236 meters below sea level and with a storage capacity of 3.16 million cubic meters over 200,000 square meters of white impervious geomembrane."
- potential energy to kinetic energy to electric energy with balance back to potential energy in a closed environment bottom reservoir?
- "Pumped storage hydropower provides an economical, efficient and stable way of hydroelectric energy storage. Acting similarly to a giant battery, it can store power and then release it when needed", but how? Closed environment in pipelines back to top reservoir and again through turbine? Not explained..
Really a good read. TQ
