Legally, the filing of the claims for RM733m is just a formality to protect Presbhd's interests.

If the govt doesn't contest this compensation amount then it will be recognized as a Judgment Sum by the court of law. This means the govt will definitely have to pay up.

However, taking the cue form the ECRL's episode, the govt will certainly apply for more time from the courts to enable them to review & renegotiate the original costs with Presbhd again. Both parties will then try to reach an amicable solution such that its a win-win situation. The govt will not be so foolish as to forgo such a hefty penalty sum of RM733m!

Meantime, it's rather obvious that big syndicates are taking advantage of the layman's ignorance of the law to slam down the price in order to buy back at lower levels.
