KUALA LUMPUR: REDtone International Bhd's first quarter net profit ended Aug 31, 2012, rose to RM2 million as compared to a net loss of RM870,000 in the same quarter last year.
Revenue grew 24.2 per cent to RM30.67 million from RM24.7 million previously, REDtone said in a statement today.
The company said it expects profit and revenue growth momentum to strengthen in the following quarters from more data projects and the infrastructure sharing and alliance with Maxis.
Its Chief Executive Officer Lau Bik Soon said the company has been awarded several WiFi and government projects and expects to see greater contribution from these contracts as they gain momentum.
"We are also participating actively in government tenders and are hopeful that our efforts will bear result in the coming months.
"REDtone is also installing and managing more WiFi hotspots and networks for telcos and this provides us recurring and consistent revenue stream," he added.
REDtone's small and medium enterprise segment is expected to be given a boost via new service launches riding on TM's high speed broadband network, Lau said. -- BERNAMA
