Malaysian rubber prices continued to close lower in quiet trading on Monday in line with the decline in rubber prices in Thailand, the world's biggest rubber producer, dealers said.
The dealers said despite the bounce on Tokyo Commodity Exchange futures prices following the growth in US car sales, demand for local rubber products is still unhealthy.
At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for tyre-grade SMR20 fell 16.5 sen to 874.5 sen per kg and latex-in-bulk slipped two sen to 615 sen per kg.
The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR20 fell 4.5 sen to 877 sen per kg and latex-in-bulk half-a-sen to 615 sen per kg.-- Bernama
