SELANGOR, 13 SEPTEMBER 2024Tex Cycle Technology (M) Berhad (“Tex Cycle” or the “Group”), an established waste management and recycling solutions provider, is excited to announce that its subsidiary, Tex Evolusi Waste Management Sdn. Bhd. (“Tex Evolusi”) has secured the Environmental Impact Assessment (“EIA”) approval from the Department of Environment for the "Proposed off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery facility on Lot 2-9 within PL.196290767 at Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), Sipitang, Sabah".

This approval is a crucial step for the commencement of operations for the off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery facility at SOGIP, Sabah, which is expected to commence construction by fourth quarter of 2024.

Reflecting on the developments since the announcement on April 2024, Tex Cycle has made significant strides in establishing Sabah's first integrated scheduled waste management facility, in partnership with Evolusi Bersatu Sdn. Bhd. This facility is poised to offer local, cost-effective waste treatment solutions that adhere to stringent environmental standards, reducing the need to transport waste to Semenanjung for processing. The initiative aligns with Sabah’s broader sustainability goals and is expected to create over 150 job opportunities.

The newly approved integrated facility at Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park is a pivotal development for Tex Cycle, aimed at streamlining waste management processes and enhancing environmental safeguards. The EIA  approval underlines the facility's compliance with stringent environmental standards, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a manner that prioritises sustainability and minimises environmental impact. This approval is crucial as it not only validates the facility's operational plans but also fortifies community trust and supports long-term ecological objectives.

The facility, representing a substantial capital commitment of RM100.0 million, is scheduled to commence construction in the Q4 2024. It will set new benchmarks for waste management in the region, leveraging advanced recovery and recycling technologies to maximise resource efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
