16 new constituents will be added to the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia (F4GBM) index, which measures the performance of public listed companies demonstrating strong environment, social and governance practices. This include Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad, Magnum, Chemical of Malaysia Bhd, Media Chinese International Bhd, Deleum Bhd, Media Prima Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, Parkson Holdings Bhd, Gkent and Ranhill Holding.

Few months ago , Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Xavier Jayakumar said that the non-revenue water rate (NRW) was 46% IN Pahang, 67% in Kelantan and 76% in Perlis. He added that the government plans to reduce the NRW rate nationwide to 20%, from about 35%, within the next five years, but that it would cost a lot – RM800 million to RM1 Billion for 1% drop. Ranhil Holdings’s FY2018 annual report revealed that NRW in Johor was at 24.19%.

Ranhill is  collaborating with Thai-based Treasure Sepcialty Co Ltd to explore the development of a 1150 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine power plant in Kedah to export power to Thailand, specifically the southern region. Ranhill is expected to taka 70% stake in the collaboration and TS Co, 30%. The collaboration is expected to undertake feasibility studies in relation to the plant development. Potential earnings are massive and may more than double RANHILL existing profit base, should Ranhill take even a 50% stake in the project SPV.

PERSONAL OPINION :

Overall we have seen a good rally of Ranhill despite of the recent weakening of trading interest compare to end of last year and early this year. We are seeing Federal government aim to reduce NRW and the important of saving up water. The recent news that a cold one millionaire ‘ice pirate” plans to tow 1.2 mile iceberg to the UAE, then melt it down to drink. Hopefully this day wont happen in Malaysia. So, it clearly tell us how important for us to save water and water leakage it should be the main focus of the government to solve this before every thing is too late and people die due to hot weather. On top of that, in term of profit wise it deliver a constant growth if we check on the financial result.
