EC: Harapan wins 113 seats, Warisan 8, BN 79, PAS 18

4.50am: It's official! Pakatan Harapan has secured 113 parliamentary seats, while its ally Parti Warisan Sabah won eight parliamentary seats.

EC chief Mohd Hashim Abdullah said ousted coalition BN won 79 seats, PAS 18, Sabah state party Star one, and independent candidates three seats. All seats have been announced.

I never imagined I would live to see this day

5.08am: (COMMENT) Syukur Alhamdulillah. Praise be to the Almighty for having answered our collective prayers and for having prevailed, to enable us to realise what we wanted to achieve. What seemed almost impossible has happened.

A new day has begun for our beloved Malaysia and Malaysians. A new chapter in our history has started to be written.

It is exactly 4.15 am on this historic day, May 10, 2018.

I am too excited to sleep...

The rot

“A government that has been around for far too long, accustomed to throwing its weight and lording over the people would one day be swallowed by its own self-importance, its own perception of greatness, its own lack of innovation, and its obvious over-confidence,”

“They actually dismissed whatever that was said when it was unpalatable. BN therefore, existed in a huge silo, where it manufactured its own reality and lived that reality, believing its own lies and fantasies.” said Azhar Harun.

The collective conscience

Azhar said that the outcome of GE14 proves what he had always said about the ultimate power in any democracy being with the people.

“This general election is proof that there is a limit that is drawn and defined by the collective conscience of the people in any democracy.”

The Future

For the incoming government, Azhar Harun has this to say, “This new government has 60 years of imperfections to review and ultimately undo, particularly all those misplaced and harmful policies and wrongdoings that BN and its leaders had committed since 2013 or thereabouts.

“I am sure, and I have my trust, that this Pakatan Harapan government would try its very best to deliver. It just needs time to find its ground and proceed further.”

He added that the people now just need to unite and be focused.

“God willing, Malaysia will prevail.
