Sleep deprivation is a massive problem in Japan, even leading to a specific term for death by sleep deprivation - “karoshi” - and so in an effort to combat the “sleep is expendable” attitude, a Japanese company is awarding points to their employees worth up to $570 a year that can be exchanged for meals in the company’s cafeteria… if the employees get a good night’s sleep.
