Why do some people skip medical checkups, treatments or follow-up care, even when the services are available for them to access? In Selangor, it has been reported that time constraints and transport problems are the primary reasons that residents in the state do not go for follow-up screenings or consultations despite the detection of abnormalities in health screening programmes. In the first Public Health show of 2024, we explore invisible barriers that make it difficult for people to seek healthcare, and why patient navigation programmes are important to ensure that patients don't fall through the cracks.
