KPJ Healthcare Bhd,a member of Johor Corp(JCorp), is targeting to achieve RM2 billion over the next two years.

According to Managing Director Datin Paduka Siti Sa`adiah Sheikh Bakir, her confidence is based on new and current expansion of group hospitals.

'With this new building and the expansion of other hospitals such as in Ampang Puteri and Damansara, we believe the target can be achieved,' she told a press conference at the new KPJ Tawakal Specialist Hospital in Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, today.

KPJ Healthcare invested about RM135 million in the new facility and expects it to be operational on July 1.

Siti Sa`adiah said the second phase of the new hospital building, costing RM20 million, will be equipped with private lifts and 40 single rooms.

She highlighted that KPJ Healthcare is confident of recouping the initial cost of the hospital within the next three or four years.

The company is also acquiring a bigger stake in the Sabah Medical Centre(SMC) and expanding its Ampang and Damansara hospitals.

It has invested about RM200 million to build new hospitals in Pasir Gudang, Johor and in Tanjung Lumpur in Kuantan, besides taking over abandoned projects in Muar and Klang.

In another development, Siti Sa`adiah said the healthcare industry in Malaysia has shown a promising start with many players joining it.

'Many others are being attracted to enter the industry,' she explained.

KPJ Healthcare is a leading private healthcare provider in the country with a network of 19 hospitals and two in Indonesia.

The company has more than 29 years experience in the healthcare industry with a staff strength of about 7,000 people. --Bernama
