Daibochi Plastic and Packaging Industry Bhd continued to see strong demand for its flexible packaging products with revenue growing to RM192.3 million for the nine months ended Sept 30, 2010 from RM167.2 million in the corresponding period last year.
However, pre-tax profit was lower at RM18.4 million from RM20.3 million previously due to higher raw material prices, research and development expenses and forex loss.
'Daibochi's core business would be in flexible plastic packaging, which is why we are continuing to innovate our product range to suit the applications for existing and new sectors.
'With this, we are putting strategies in place to generate top line growth in the long-term,' Managing Director Thomas Lim said in a statement today.
He said the company is actively collaborating with suppliers and customers to manage the rising prices of raw materials more effectively.
'Daibochi has the expertise to offer customers a cheaper alternative to substitute polyester films. We expect to complete the implementation for these customers within three months,' he added. -- BERNAMA
