Nestle Malaysia appoints Syed Saiful Islam as executive director

KUALA LUMPUR (May 23): Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd (Nestle Malaysia) has appointed Syed Saiful Islam as the food giant's executive director, effective Aug 1.

Syed Saiful, 49, joined Nestle Bangladesh in 1999 as a financial accounting manager before taking on various financial roles within Nestle India from 2000 to 2005.

"Since 2010, he has helmed several leadership roles within Nestle, including vice president of finance & control of Nestle Sri Lanka, head of finance & control of Nestle Nigeria and his current role as head of finance & control of Nestle Pakistan since 2018, where he successfully co-piloted a turnaround of the business to deliver strong and consistent profit improvement," according to Nestle Malaysia's bourse filing on Monday (May 23).

In a separate filing, Nestle Malaysia said Craig Grant Connolly, who was appointed to the board in February 2019, will resign as the group's executive director on the same date. "Mr Craig Connolly will be taking on a new role as global head of financial services based in Nestle SA, Switzerland."

Nestle shares closed up 60 sen or 0.45% to RM134.20 with some 117,000 shares changing hands. At 60 sen, the group is valued at RM31.47 billion.
