KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): Technology services provider HeiTech Padu Bhd has bagged a RM40.93 million contract from the Ministry of Education (MOE) for the rental of eco-friendly laptops that meet green requirements on a lease-to-own model for the use of school teachers and educational institutions located in Zone 7: Kelantan and Terengganu.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Thursday, HeiTech Padu said it has accepted and signed the letter of acceptance (LoA) from MOE to provide the laptops on a lease-to-own model.

"The contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023," it added.

In a separate filing, Theta Edge Bhd said its wholly-owned subsidiary Theta Technologies Sdn Bhd has also accepted an LoA from MOE under the same programme, but this time for the needs of school teachers and educational institutions located in Zone 1: Selangor.

Theta said the total value of its contract is RM47.4 million.

Both contracts are for a period of 63 months commencing from Sept 15, 2023 to Dec 14, 2028 for the supply, installation, testing, hardware commissioning and leasing (for 60 months) of the laptops.

"The board of directors is of the view that the contract is in the best interest of Theta Group. The contract would not have any material effects on the share capital and shareholding structure of the company. However, it is expected to contribute positively to the earnings per share and net assets per share of Theta for the financial year ending 2023 onwards," it said.

HeiTech Padu’s shares closed down 0.5 sen or 0.76% at 65 sen on Thursday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM66.3 million. Theta’s shares, meanwhile, settled up 0.5 sen or 0.79% at 63.5 sen, valuing it at RM75.5 million.
