Salcon’s 60%-owned Unit Secures RM19.7m Sewerage Contract in Penang

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 5): Salcon Bhd has secured a RM19.68 million contract from Penang Development Corp (PDC)to undertake design and construction of sewer pipelines
and related works in Batu Kawan Industrial Park, Penang.

In a statement on Monday, the water engineering company said Envitech Sdn Bhd, a 60%-owned subsidiary of Salcon Engineering Bhd, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Salcon, had accepted a letter of award from PDC for the contract.

The contract commences immediately for a duration of 24 months, and is expected to be completed on Feb 4, 2026.

"As we mark Salcon’s 50th anniversary this year, we are thrilled to receive the letter of award for this project, a testament to our client’s strong confidence in Salcon.

"With Envitech, our wastewater subsidiary, boasting a solid 40-year track record and extensive expertise in the wastewater sector, we have full confidence in executing the project to successful completion”, said Jamiluddin Amini Sulaiman, the chief operating officer of Salcon Engineering.

Berjaya Corp Bhd bought a 14.54% stake in Salcon in November last year, making it the single largest shareholder.

Since then, Salcon's share price rose about 64% from 22 sen to a high of 36 sen within about a week.

Salcon's share price closed unchanged at 25 sen on Monday, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM253.1 million.
