MUNICH: If the alarm on your smartphone doesn’t go off in the morning, chances are your day will get off to a bad start. Luckily the problem can usually be fixed quickly.
It’s usually due to faulty sound setting on the iPhone when the alarm clock remains silent or only vibrates in the morning, according to tech platform Macwelt.de, which specialises in Apple products.
If you want to be woken up by your favourite rock band, for example, you have to enable this in the phone’s sound settings.
If the alarm isn’t loud enough to wake you you need to check the volume. If you’ve set the phone’s volume to zero before going to sleep that will also silence the alarm sound.
Another problem can be caused by connected Bluetooth headphones. If smartphone users do not switch them off before going to bed, the alarm tone might be played only over the headphones.
Macwelt.de also warns of a bug in the iOS operating system that can cause the alarm clock to remain silent, namely when you’ve selected a song from your music library to be your wakeup tune. If you then delete the song the alarm won’t sound at all.
For that reason Macwelt advises smartphone users to keep an eye on their wakeup song when cleaning out their music library.
