BERLIN: Mozilla launched Thunderbird, its open-source email client, for PC and Mac ages ago.

Two years after the organisation announced plans to launch a mobile version, a client for Android is now available for download at long last, following the release of a beta version a few weeks ago.

Thunderbird 8.0, which is built on the K9-Mail app, allows Android users to import settings and data from the desktop client to their phones and tablets.

All you need to do is scan a QR code or transfer a settings file.

K9 users can also seamlessly migrate settings, emails and folders.

The Thunderbird app, which is ad-free, can be downloaded via Google's Play Store or directly from the Thunderbird website.

Availability on the app store F-Droid will be coming soon, Mozilla says.
