A vibrator accidentally turned on is heard buzzing inside a passenger's rucksack, causing panic that it was a ticking bomb ready to explode.

AirAsia, vibrator, buzzing, bomb disposal personnel, BangkokPETALING JAYA: A buzzing vibrator mistaken for a ticking time bomb inside the rucksack of an AirAsia passenger caused panic among airline staff, who quickly radioed bomb disposal personnel to the site as the flight was ordered grounded.

The brush with “terror” occurred when staff of AirAsia heard a loud buzzing sound and noticed something shaking inside a green rucksack they were loading onto the aircraft, UK’s Daily Star reported.

Leaving nothing to chance, staff immediately contacted bomb disposal experts to inspect whether there were explosives inside the bag.

The experts however breathed a sigh of relief upon discovering a silver bullet-shaped vibrator inside the bag that had accidentally been switched on.

A baggage handler who took pictures of the sex toy, but who wished to remain anonymous, told the news portal: “We noticed the bag was shaking and there was a buzzing noise coming from inside.

“Obviously we were pretty scared because this could have been a bomb or some other explosive device.

“But when the experts arrived they opened up the package and it was just a sex toy.”

The handler said however that the passenger whose vibrator it was, remained oblivious that the device had caused a scare when it was mistaken for a bomb and added, “I think they would be deeply embarrassed if they found out.”

The mysterious buzzing however caused a delay of only five minutes and AirAsia flight FD3438 due to leave Chiang Mai International Airport in Thailand for Bangkok Don Mueang took off at 8.30am without further “terror” incidents.

Commenting on the incident, an AirAsia spokesman was reported by Daily Star as saying: “When inspected, the officers found a sex toy.

“They did not confiscate the item because it did not threaten aviation security.

“The flight was delayed by five minutes.”
