Australian official warns drums of war are beating
CANBERRA - One of Australia's most senior security officials has said liberal democracies must brace for war while searching for peace amid elevated global tensions.
Home Affairs Department Secretary Mike Pezzullo said the possibility of war was increasing.
"Today, as free nations again hear the beating drums and watch worryingly the militarisation of issues that we had, until recent years, thought unlikely to be catalysts for war, let us continue to search unceasingly for the chance for peace while bracing again ... for the curse of war," Pezzullo said in a letter to staff on Anazac Day, which honours the country's war dead.
Pezzullo did not specify the catalyst for his warning but it follows a sharp deterioration in Australia's relationship with China and a rise in regional tensions over Taiwan.
Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton said on Sunday that a conflict involving China over Taiwan "should not be discounted".
Australia's opposition Labor party criticised Pezzullo's comments.
"I think that is pretty hyper-excited language and I am not sure our senior public servants should be using that language," Labor party lawmaker Bill Shorten told Australia's Channel 9.
China claims Taiwan as its own territory and has never renounced the use of force to bring the island under Beijing's control.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said he hoped Australia was aware of the sensitive nature of the issue and could "avoid sending any wrong signal to Taiwan independence forces".

Barking is all they can do.
The enemy of the dog owner is the dog enemy, but when the enemy fed the dog well, the dog get confused and goes quiet, too bad, some strays still bark here, wanting very hard to be leashed, no luck though, strays are unwanted.

There are three weird responses to this reference. In the first place, UNCLOS has no right to rule on sovereignty. It is up to another global court to decide (Court of Justice).
The second weird response is that the US government has not officially approved the United Nation Convention of Law of the Sea yet.
The third weird response is that UNCLOS was formed in 1994, 47 years after China first drew the 11-dashed lines.

In February 2019, the International Court of Justice in The Hague ruled that the United Kingdom must transfer the islands to Mauritius as they were not legally separated from the latter in 1965. The UK Foreign Office said the ruling is not legally binding.[13] In May 2019, the United Nations General Assembly affirmed the decision of the International Court of Justice and demanded that the United Kingdom withdraw its colonial administration from the Islands and cooperate with Mauritius to facilitate the resettlement of Mauritian nationals in the archipelago.[14][15] In a written statement, the U.S. government said that neither the Americans nor the British have any plans to discontinue use of the military base on Diego Garcia.

The Pedra Branca dispute was a territorial dispute between Singapore and Malaysia over several islets at the eastern entrance to the Singapore Strait, namely Pedra Branca (previously called Pulau Batu Puteh and now Batu Puteh by Malaysia), Middle Rocks and South Ledge. The dispute began in 1979 and was largely resolved by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2008, which opined that Pedra Branca belonged to Singapore and Middle Rocks belonged to Malaysia. Sovereignty over South Ledge belongs to the state in the territorial waters of which it is located.

TOKYO - There is "no change" in Japan's position towards Taiwan, top government spokesman Katsunobu Kato said on Friday (June 11), two days after Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga stoked China's fury by calling Taiwan a "country".
Mr Kato told reporters that "there is no change in Japan's basic position of maintaining a non-governmental, practical relationship with Taiwan", in line with the 1972 Japan-China Communique.

The Joint Communique of the Government of Japan and the Government of the People's Republic of China was signed on September 29, 1972 in Beijing. USA is the trouble maker all over the world and try to impose her "Exceptionality" and judging pointing finger on everybody whereas the country herself is now in turmoil and has her citizens fighting one another.
