JAKARTA, June 7 : State-owned builder PT Waskita Karya and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) Ltd formed an alliance to boost infrastructure in Indonesia.

The master agreement signed on Sunday includes the development of two toll roads known as Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung and Ciawi-Sukabumi, a fuel distribution pipe that spans between Cikampek in West Java and Plumpang in the capital Jakarta, as well as the revetment of the Benoa port in Bali, Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises Ministry said in a statement.

The partnership can be extended to other sectors, and Waskita Karya is open to work together with other partners, the company’s President Director Destiawan Soewardjono said in the statement.

Indonesia's Antara reported that State Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir lauded the cooperation agreement signed between PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk and CCCC.

Construction activities must continue to be implemented, not only to strengthen domestic connectivity but also to help Indonesia grow during and after the pandemic, the minister noted in a statement.

"After all, we must be able to get out of the crisis caused by the pandemic and continue to strengthen cooperation with various parties," Thohir remarked.

Waskita President Director Destiawan Soewardjono affirmed that the cooperation was one of the company's strategies to create positive business growth potential after the Covid-19 vaccination program.

"The construction and infrastructure sectors are among vital sectors to boost national economic growth," he stated.

"By establishing synergies with a large infrastructure developer, such as CCCC, the benefits of creating added value are not only for the two companies but also for the countries and societies," he remarked.
