PARIS, July 22 -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) continues to enjoy a "very robust" financial situation, IOC president Thomas Bach said here on Monday.
The IOC chief made the remarks at the opening of the 142nd IOC Session.
"Thanks to the financial support from our commercial partners, we have already today secured 7.3 billion U.S. dollars of revenue for the next Olympiad from 2025 to 2028," said Bach.
"Even for the Olympiad 2029 to 2032 we have already secured 6.2 billion dollars. With a full pipeline, these figures will only increase.
"In fact, our situation is so robust that it allows us to increase our Olympic Solidarity budget by 10 percent to 650 million for the coming Olympiad," he added.
Bach stressed that the support for the least privileged national (regional) Olympic committees through the TOP Program will even increase by 43 percent.
"This is just another demonstration of how we walk our talk when it comes to solidarity. For us, money is not and end in itself. For us, money is just a tool for solidarity," he said.
The 142nd IOC Session will be held from July 22 to July 24 and on August 10 in Paris, France.
