Construction industry
Dennis Tan, the Secretary General of the Master Builders Association, Malaysia, (MBAM) just said the following:
1. All construction sites are not allowed to operate during this period of MCO except essential works like MRT site, water and utilities sector.
2. Even utilities sector is not allowed to operate, many materials supply chain are not allowed to operate, like quarry, ready mix, steel bar and hardware are not allow. Some are still applying for MITI approval to operate.
3. One person per vehicle is huge problem for sending workers to site for workers stay off site.
4. Can't get required material to work for essential sector, some materials available are highly priced at this period.
5.Mechinery service and repair sector are not allowed to operate too.
6 The whole construction industry is in a standstill and crippled.
7 All his members are losing money because construction companies still have to pay their workers, office administrators, bank loan etc.
By the way, I was the Secretary General of (MBMR) for 9 years.
Property Development
Tan Sri Tan Boon Seng, non-executive IJM Corporation Chairman, just told me that MCO has crippled the whole property development industry. He reaffirmed what the Secretary General of MBAM just said.
By the way, I was a co-founder of IJM.
In fact, MCO is affecting almost all listed companies.
When workers cannot go to work, companies will lose money or make less profit.
Among all the stock selection criteria such as NTA, cashflow, dividend yield, debt, good balance sheet etc the most power catalyst to push up stock price is profit growth prospect.
Investors might be tempted to buy stocks which are on cheap sale. They will remain cheap for a long time, until they can report increased profit. Due to MCO, all listed companies will not be able to report increased profit in the next few quarters.
Investors can only start to buy stocks when the companies can report increased profit.
Covid 19 cases in Malaysia
Currently we have a total of 868,000 Covid 19 cases and 6,563 deaths. The number of new cases is still surging as shown on the chart below.
More than 11,000 new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia for second consecutive day. Today Malaysia reported a new record of 13,215 new cases.

After the stock market closed, KSL announced its 4th quarter ending Dec 2023 EPS of 12.74 sen. The total is 40.76 sen for 4 quarters. Its total EPS for 4 quarter ending 2020 was only 17.8 sen.

If u anticipate the 6 to 9 mths business will be recovering, then u should start accumulating now loh!

Bourse is future indicator! If you take it as present indicator, most probably you will lost out! So yeah, with very satisfactory vaccination rate, now is the best time! If you still doubtful, wait for mass vaccination to hit half a million daily! But as of yesterday, it's already 460k! So yeah, it's as good as half a million!

Let's me explain importance of mass vaccination! If 80% are fully vaccinated, our hospitals will see very few Covid patients! Data already show us that Pfizer is the most effective! Our quarter million medical workers who are constantly expose to Covid, only less that 1% are infected! And very few end up been hospitalized! Very few!
