MyNews Holdings Bhd's share price jumped almost 11 per cent to 46.5 sen a share today, on the possibiliy that businessman Datuk Seri Johari Ghani could become a shareholder in the company. The Edge Weekly reported over the weekend that Johari, who is said to have been eyeing a stake in MyNews for awhile now, could go in by subscribing to some of the new shares that the company plans to place out. Uzma Bhd has partnered with Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MHB) to explore potential collaborations, develop innovative solutions and provide comprehensive services in the oil and gas (O&G) industry. In its filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Uzma said its subsidiary, Uzma Engineering Sdn Bhd (UESB) today entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE), a subsidiary of MHB for the projects. The turbulent relationship between Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Brahim's Holdings Bhd has been temporarily cooled down as the parties agree to extend their contract until August 2023. Malaysia Airlines parent Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) told the New Straits Times that it received an agreement from Brahim's in-flight unit, Brahim's Food Services (BFS), on June 28 to extend their contract for two months. The share price of Cypark Resources Bhd fell 7.33% or 5.5 sen to a one-week low of 69.5 sen during Monday (July 3) morning trade on Bursa Malaysia after the company fell into the red for the first time since its listing in October 2010. By afternoon break, the counter had pared its loss to 73 sen, a two sen or 2.67% drop from its previous closing price on Friday. It had opened at 70 sen and saw its share price hit an intraday high of 74.5 sen. (TheEdge)

Shares in electronic manufacturing services (EMS) provider SKP Resources Bhd continued its losing streak, shedding as much as 11.47% or 12.5 sen to 96.5 sen during the morning trade session on Monday (July 3). At noon break, its shares pared losses to 99 sen, still down 10 sen or 9.17%, slotting it among the bourse’s top losers thus far. (TheEdge)

G Capital Bhd via its wholly-owned unit Northern Star Hydropower Sdn Bhd has inked a renewable energy power purchase agreement (REPPA) with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB), in relation to the 26MW high-head small hydropower plants in Pahang. (TheEdge)

PRG Holdings Bhd's 50.45 per cent owned subsidiary Furniweb Holdings Ltd (FHL) appointed Er Kang Boon Lian as executive director effective July 1, 2023. Er Kang, aged 53, graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) in July 1994. (NST)

Velesto Energy Bhd is taking on the moderation path in its capital spending in the next seven years to prepare for transformation and financial target aspirations by 2030, said president Megat Zariman Abdul Rahim. Megat told the New Straits Times that the company currently has a total of six functioning rigs, and it is not seeking to expand the number of rigs in the next few years. (NST)

Fitch Ratings sees Genting Bhd facing intense competition among various operators in its bid for a full-scale casino licence in New York. In a commentary last Thursday (June 29), the rating agency said Genting Malaysia Bhd's (GenM) subsidiary, Genting New York LLC may bid for a full-scale casino licence in New York. (TheEdge)
