IPOH: The Government does not have plans to extend the RM30 e-Tunai Rakyat initiative when registration ends on March 9, says Lim Guan Eng.

The Finance Minister said the campaign from Jan 15 would end on March 14, but registration closes on March 9.

"I urge the people to take this opportunity to register with the three services – Touch n' Go e-Wallet, Boost and GrabPay.

"This three services were selected to take part in the Government's RM450mil initiative," he said after launching the e-wallet registration programme at Aeon Kinta City here on Sunday (Jan 19).

The three e-wallet services are offering cash and coupons to Malaysian customers to entice them to redeem the RM30 through their services.

Malaysians above 18 years of age who earn less than RM100,000 annually are eligible to receive the RM30, which is to encourage users to adopt cashless payments.

Lim added that to date, 2.6 million people had applied, with two million applications approved.

"Under the RM450mil allocation, 15 million people are eligible to get the RM30 handout.

"We are heading towards a cashless society, and this is a good step for everyone, including petty traders, senior citizens and small-time businesses," he added.

This idiot still don't get it. Free money is the hallmark of BN. You complaint so much about 1MDB debt and get want to repeat the same gimmick as BN. The Kinmanis result clearly tell you what a fool you are. No more stupid gimmick, just concentrate on better the economy like abolishing the 5% property tax and lower business income tax.
