PUTRAJAYA: There has been a surprising turn of events, with all Pakatan Harapan MPs declaring their support for PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

It is understood that PKR lawmakers who had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had presented Anwar's name as their choice for Prime Minister.

According to sources, Amanah MPs had also done the same.

DAP are expected to follow suit when they have an audience with the King later Wednesday (Feb 26).

When met at after her audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Wangsa Maju MP Tan Yee Kew said she had signed a statutory declaration supporting Anwar as prime minister.

It is understood that PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil will be issuing an official party statement soon.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad earlier said on Twitter that Anwar should be given the chance to prove that he has enough support.

Following the withdrawal of Bersatu as well as 11 PKR MPs from Pakatan, the coaltion only has 92 seats.

A simple majority would require 112 MPs on board.
