PETALING JAYA: Malaysians are yearning to see an end to the pandemic as they welcome 2021.

Human resources and finance executive Yuvaneswary Supperamaniam hopes all who lost jobs and are seeking new opportunities will be blessed with a better future and experience this year.

“May this year end the pandemic and bless the people with good health and wealth.

“I wish this new beginning will bring love, joy and positive changes to society. I wish everyone a happy and healthy new year, ” said the 26-year-old.

Lecturer Muhamad Amirul Faiz Abd Ghani said 2020 had been the most unforgettable year as it had challenged people in so many ways, financially, mentally and physically.

“There are people who have lost their source of income, including the family breadwinner, and some lost loved ones to Covid-19.

“The year 2020 shifted my perspective especially on health, when my family and I were diagnosed with Covid-19.

“From that moment onwards, we started to appreciate and care for each other more, and it also revealed people who were genuinely concerned about my well-being and for that I am very much grateful for the blessings, ” he said.

The 29-year-old wished to be stronger with better health in 2021.

“Regardless of what happens, we will go through this together, and remember that you are not fighting this alone as there are people who will always look forward to seeing you and are happy for your presence in their lives, ” he said.

Quality assurance manager Yong Swee Sin wishes to pick up a new hobby to make her time more meaningful this year.

“I wish every day of the new year be filled with success and happiness. Happy New Year and please continue to stay safe, ” said the 32-year-old.

Engineer Syaiqa Amir hopes 2021 will bring relief and more happiness as 2020 had been exceptionally taxing for her.

“I hope and pray that 2021 is much easier than 2020 as it was a challenging year.

“I’m also waiting for the international borders to open so I can go for parties overseas, ” said the 25-year-old.

Syaiqa wishes everyone will enjoy their break and start afresh with renewed motivation and spirit.

“Wishing all of you some well-deserved downtime and a very Happy New Year. Cheers to health, happiness and prosperity in 2021!” she said.

Online business manager Hanani Syaira Che Yusoff Zaki is welcoming 2021 with resolutions to be a better person as she ages into the “three series” this year.

“I hope to be more patient when handling my children and be more mature when

making decisions, ” she said. She also hopes to be more productive while at work and to avoid getting angry at petty things.

Benjeez, who shared his new year’s wish on The Star’s twitter account, said his resolutions could only be achieved when the battle with Covid-19 was over.

“I have lots of New Year resolutions but every single one of them can be achieved only with Covid-19 defeated.

“That is why I hope, wish and pray that Covid-19 will be defeated, with the unity and cooperation with our fellow Malaysians and earthlings, ” he said.

Social media users on Facebook are also looking forward to travelling and greater blessings in 2021.

“Definitely the end of this pandemic for the whole world so that I can fly. Happy New Year!” said Angie Kst.

“Hello 2021. Be kind to the whole world. Free us from the virus please. Bring us peace, joy and let there be a shower of blessings all year round, ” said Ammelda Pereira.
