PETALIING JAYA: A total of 14 business premises operated by foreigners around Kenanga Wholesale City have been closed down, says Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

DBKL in a statement on Sunday (Jan 22), said that the city hall through the enforcement department had taken action against premises operated by foreigners around Kenanga Wholesale City, Jalan Kenanga off Jalan Gelugor, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Jan 21).

"Through observation and special intelligence by DBKL's enforcement team last week, a second raid was carried out on 15 general merchandise business premises involving the sale of clothes, textiles, sewing tools operated by citizens of Bangladesh, Indonesia and Myanmar.

"Through this raid, DBKL carried out a check on 20 foreign assistants or operators of premises and continued to immediately take action to close (seal) 14 premises through Sec.101(1)(v), Local Government Act 1976.

DBKL said it had also issued 15 compound notices against the premises through the Business and Industrial Trade Bylaws (WPKL) 2016, where five notices involved those operating without a business license, while 10 notices were issued for businesses appointing assistants without a permit.

"A show cause letter will be issued directly to the local premise owners to recommend termination or cancellation of the business license for allowing foreigners to operate their business activities without valid permission.

"DBKL will continue its monitoring and intelligence on all other hot spots involving business activities operated by foreigners," it said.

What load of bull crap!
Any Tom, Dick and Harry can show or tip off about these illicit businesses operated by foreigners. You don't need special intelligence.
Most of these businesses operate because of DBKL themselves.

This is the reason why they want foreign workers.
They employ these foreigners to run their moonlighting businesses while they go to work. Mostly are civil servants.
