TUN Dr Mahathir Mohamad has again hit out at DAP’s democratic socialist Malaysian Malaysia concept, accusing it as intending to wipe out Tanah Melayu (the Malay Peninsula) and replacing it by a multi-racial Malaysia.

He also ranted that never before had foreign immigrants or their descendants who were “accorded asylum” and granted citizenship demanded their host country be made an immigrant country or a multi-racial country.

“Such experiment was first introduced by the British Malayan Union but was rejected. But the PAP (People’s Action Party) led by Lee Kuan Yew suggested Malaysian Malaysia also with the same purpose. But it was rejected in the 1964 general election,” recalled the former two-time premier in his latest social media post.

“Now DAP with the support of PKR and Amanah again introduces the same goal whereby Malaysia which was originally perceived as Tanah Melayu is now deemed a multi-racial country.”

Ultimately, Dr Mahathir who had two stints as PM for a total of 22 years and 22 months thus making him Malaysia’s longest premier, opined that it is up to the Malays to think whether the situation in this multi-racial country is beneficial to them or otherwise.

“Members of the Malay Proclamation has no intention to seize the rights and belongings of others,” he asserted.

“They only want to serve justice for Tanah Malay which accepts immigrants and their descendants whether Arabs, Indians, Pakistanis, Indonesians and others by absorbing them into the Malay race and willingly accept Malay as the national language.”

However, immigrants and their descendants who wish to retain their identity with their countries of origin should be treated differently from the native inhabitants as well as those who fully embrace national language and culture, according to Dr Mahathir.

Although the Malaysian Constitution agrees that Islam is Malaysia’s official religion, Dr Mahathir further claimed that pressure was imposed so that Malaysia will no longer be recognised as a Muslim country.

“Efforts have been made for Malaysia to become a secular country which has no official religion,” he observed. “All of this will happen when the Malays sold their land to other races. The Malays are mostly poor. They sold their land to wealthy people who are almost all descendants of immigrants.”

He also stressed that his social media post is not intended to frighten the Malays against the push for Malaysia to become a multi-racial country although the reality suggests otherwise.

“Hang Tuah used to say that the Malays will not disappear in this world. But the Malays have lost many territories. The current trend shows that the Malays will not remain as one single race,” projected Dr Mahathir. “The Malays will lose their country and will disappear from this world.” - July 4, 2023
