KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Rakyat Foundation (YBR) has been awarded the Special Category Award Champion CSR Award 2023 at the Bumiputera Business Excellence Awards (BBEA) 2023 held on Nov 30.

The recognition was awarded following the sustainability of initiatives carried out by YBR in enhancing the socio-economic status of Malaysians through education and various community programmes throughout the year to assist those less fortunate.

The Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick presented the award to YBR chairman Datuk Philip Benedict Lasimbang.

YBR general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani, corporate administration division Khairul Na'im Arifin, and corporate communications department manager Mohamad Ghazali Zainal Abidin were present.

Lasimbang, in a statement, said the award represents YBR's achievement in fulfilling corporate social responsibility throughout the year and is hoped to set a benchmark for the foundation to continue assisting the community regardless of ethnicity, race, or religion.

"This recognition will enhance our commitment to continue serving those in need and further strengthen YBR's credibility.

"We will continue to help improve the socio-economic well-being of the people through educational development, community empowerment, and healthcare assistance," he said.

He added that YBR allocated RM28.02 million last year for educational and community aid.
