KUALA LUMPUR: Change or you will be chained – this is the message from Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain to all his officers and personnel.

This followed the recent arrest of a senior CID officer for alleged graft.

"My previous message (to all officers) was 'change or be changed'.

"In light of the latest development, it is appropriate for me to modify it to 'change or be chained'.

"You pay the price for your deeds," he told a press conference at Bukit Aman on Wednesday (March 27).

He was commenting on the arrest by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) of a senior CID officer attached to the KL police contingent for alleged bribery.

"Personally, I am consistent in my approach and action, (and) fully support... the MACC's action on any wrongdoing.

"I will leave it to the MACC to fully investigate the matter.

"I have never and will never compromise on any wrongdoing by any CID officer or personnel," he said.

It was reported that a senior police officer attached to the KL police headquarters had been detained by the MACC for bribery.

The police officer allegedly took bribes in order to not take action against certain individuals.

KL police said they would wait for MACC Investigations to conclude before taking action.

Sources revealed that MACC had also seized over RM1mil in cash from several properties said to be linked to the officer.

Messages have since spread on the Telegram app that investigators seized more than RM2.5mil in cash from a luxury condominium in Kuala Lumpur.

The message also claimed that property worth more than RM4mil had been found.
