PETALING JAYA: A discussion has been held with the logistics industry on the implementation of the targeted diesel subsidy programme, says Treasury secretary-general Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican.

The discussion held on Friday (April 19) was to get the views of associations and logistic companies on the scope and conditions of the proposed programme, especially to listen to the issues faced and improvement measures to be taken.

"As laid out in Budget 2024, the government will implement subsidy rationalization to prevent continuous pilfering and smuggling of diesel," said the Finance Ministry in a statement on Facebook on Saturday (April 20).

"However to reduce the impact of prices of goods for the people, subsidised diesel prices will continue to be enjoyed by selected users, such as freight companies.

The statement said the subsidy rationalization mechanism would be implemented together with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry through subsidised diesel control system pioneer project (SKDS 2.0) where applications could be made at the link at https://mysubsidi.kpdn.gov.my/

"Upon successfully obtaining approval under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry's MySubsidi Diesel System, companies involved in land transport (Goods) can obtain a Fleet Card from the selected oil company for the purchase of subsidized diesel.

"With the implementation of the subsidy rationalization, the government will be able to distribute the nation's revenue to the needy through the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah, Sumbangan Asas Rahmah and other types of aid," added the Finance Ministry.
