KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says he will hit the ground to campaign in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

The former Umno vice-president said he, however, would wait for the details from the party headquarters.

"We will wait for the orders on which divisions to take charge of which areas.

"So, we shall wait for the schedule from the headquarters," he told reporters at the Defence Ministry's Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Dewan Seroja at Kem Kementah here on Tuesday (April 23).

The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat in Selangor fell vacant following the demise of DAP assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21.

Lee, 58, who had held the seat since 2013, had battled cancer for several years.

The Election Commission has fixed nomination day on April 27 and polling on May 11.

According to last year's statistics, there are 40,015 registered voters in the constituency with Malays making up 46.4%, followed by Chinese (30.7%), Indians (18%) and others (5%).
