PUTRAJAYA: The issue of the Sabah state government's consideration to appoint independent evaluators to demand 40 per cent revenue rights from the government has yet to be discussed at the federal level.

Unity Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said the government is, instead, focusing on resolving outstanding matters including government projects in the state.

This includes the National Heart Centre that is set to be built in the state.

"This matter, concerning the Sabah state government's consideration to appoint independent evaluators, was not discussed during the meeting with the Prime Minister, several cabinet ministers, the Chief Minister, and his cabinet. It was not raised.

"The focus at this point in time is to resolve largely outstanding matters. There are 25 'sick' projects identified in Sabah and it is the priority of the government apart from the newly-announced Sabah National Heart Centre," he said at a press conference, here, today.

On Monday, Sabah State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said they would consider appointing independent evaluators to demand its revenue rights in the absence of any concrete decision from the federal government on the demand.

The Sabah government has made a 40 per cent revenue claim from the federal government.
