PUTRAJAYA, April 24 — Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil today said that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at expediting the adoption of 5G technology among industries and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He highlighted that the advantages of 5G, which have already seen a 35 per cent increase in uptake in April, extend beyond just consumers to encompass industrial and enterprise sectors as well.

“Next week, additional announcements regarding 5G implementation are expected, providing clear directions. The dual-network policy will continue, with further announcements expected next week,” he said during a press conference here today.

He added that the feedback received for the KL20 Summit indicates that the implemented format aligns well and prioritise certain specific areas, notably artificial intelligence and the semiconductor sector.

Fahmi then went on to say that the event is expected to have a significantly positive impact on the country in the future.
