KUALA KUBU BAHARU: The police did not receive any reports regarding the issues of race, religion and royalty (3R) throughout the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election campaign period, which ended at 11.59pm yesterday.

As such, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that he is satisfied with the situation throughout the campaigning period.

"Neither voters nor political parties giving speeches raised any sensitive issues throughout the period.

"Police monitoring found that the issues discussed during the campaigns were related to development issues and many others. We have seen the situation here as very calm and orderly," he said when met by reporters at the Kuala Kubu Baharu district police headquarters.

He also said that the police are well-versed in the organisation of security and that the main focus is to ensure the security and order of election officials and voters.

"This isn't the first by-election, state election, or general election (for the force).

"All of our men are well-versed in managing and ensuring security and order.

"During the campaign period, Razarudin said police issued 190 permits and none were found to have breached regulations.

When asked to comment on the allegation of corruption by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming concerning the announcement of allocation in the area, he said that the matter is under the purview of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election today will see a four-cornered fight involving Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin, and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

It was called due to the death of the incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 from cancer.
