KOTA BARU: The Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) will continue to offer guidance and advice to the public to prevent actions that contradict Islamic teachings.

This initiative comes in response to the behavior of certain individuals who showed a lack of respect for religious sensitivities, such as a foreign tourist who went viral for reading excerpts from the Quran in front of the Batu Caves Hindu Temple in Selangor.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan emphasised the importance of maintaining religious sensitivity and harmony among the public.

"Therefore, we will continue to provide advice and guidance to the public on such issues. I will review the entire situation to ensure that the views given are based on accurate information and data.

"We need to refer to authoritative sources if the matter cannot be resolved," he said during a dialogue event with Kelantan civil servants at the Misai Kucing Hall in the Rural Transformation Centre of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) here today.

Present was was Kelantan Health Department director Datuk Dr. Zaini Hussin.

He said the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, had also issued a statement on the matter.

Previously, it was reported that a foreign tourist who went viral for reading excerpts from the Quran in front of the Batu Caves Hindu temple in Selangor apologised for his actions that sparked public outrage.

The influencer, known as Abdeen said he did not intend to touch on the sensitivities of any religion, as he viewed Batu Caves as merely a historical site where all tourists could record videos for personal purposes.
