KUALA TERENGGANU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief Datuk Razali Idris said he will not contest the party vice-presidency in the October annual general assembly.

He said his decision followed president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's call for the top posts to be uncontested.

"I voiced my intention to Muhyiddin and he suggested the formula (to leave the top posts uncontested)."

He said Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh member of parliament, said this at the party convention recently.

Razali, however, said he did not impose the rule on others.

"We have defended him (Muhyiddin) to remain as the president, so it is not wrong to follow the formula to prevent division."

He said the top leadership was reminded to carry out their duties diligently in preparation for the next general election.
