KUALA LUMPUR: The government is starting a review of anti-dumping duties on imports of stranded steel wires for prestressing concrete  from China.

This follows an application from Southern PC Steel Sdn Bhd for an administrative review of anti-dumping duties imposed on the wires.

Malaysia currently has a duty of between 2.09 per cent and 21.72 per cent on the wires from China.

It was effective from December 25, 2021 to December 24, 2026

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said the request from Southern PC was made based on the grounds that the dumping margin of the wires from China has changed substantially.

MITI said it found sufficient evidence to initiate an administrative review of the duties on the imports.

A decision on the review will be made within 180 days of the date of initiation. MITI will distribute a set of questionnaires and relevant documents to interested parties such as domestic producers, Silvery Dragon Prestressed Materials Co., Ltd. Tianjin dan Tianjin Dalu Steel Strand For Prestressed Co., Ltd., importers and associations as well as the government of China.
