KUALA LUMPUR: The full report on last year's Elmina air crash, to be released tomorrow by the Air Accidents Investigation Bureau (AAIB), is expected to shed light into the cause of the tragedy.

The release of the final report will be in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Annex 13, which allows for a 12-month period from the accident to finalise such a document.

It is expected that the final report will include the final 30 minutes of the tragedy as mentioned by the preliminary report released on Sept 15 last year.

The AAIB had said the voice recording was successfully retrieved but was left out from the preliminary report to help with the analyses and understanding of what happened prior to the crash.

In the preliminary report, investigators ruled out damage to the doomed aircraft as a potential cause of the air crash.

It said there was no evidence of blade loss, nor did it suffer from damage or foreign object ingestion before the crash.

Investigators had said both of the engines had no evidence of blade liberation such as case dents or perforations at the compressor sections.

There was also no evidence of foreign object ingestion, bird feathers or matter to any of the engine components.

The preliminary report on the Elmina air tragedy also suggested that there was nothing unusual with the weather when the aircraft crashed.

The meteorological report said visibility stood at more than 10km and the wind was at 9.26kph.

The reports suggested no abnormalities with the plane's navigational aid and communications channel before the crash.

It also found that the plane had a valid Certificate of Airworthiness, leaving the authorities to conclude that the aircraft had been maintained in compliance with regulations.

The aircraft was manufactured in 2004 and was issued a Standard Airworthiness Certificate by the Federal Aviation Administration on May 10, 2023.

The preliminary report also indicated that the plane's Certificate of Airworthiness would only expire on April 17 this year.

The Elmina air crash saw the Hawker Beechcraft 390 Premier 1 bearing the registration N28JV crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on Aug 17 last year during its final approach into Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Subang.

The private jet was travelling from Langkawi with eight people on board, claiming their lives.

Also killed were two motorists who had been using the Guthrie Corridor Expressway when the aircraft crashed there.
