JOHOR BARU: The Economy Ministry has been developing a comprehensive framework over the past year to improve the efficiency of government services in supporting businesses, says Rafizi Ramli.

The Economy Minister revealed that the framework, which is now nearing completion, is a key component of the government’s strategy to sustain and boost Malaysia’s economic growth.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to launch the framework on Oct 4, he said.

“We are finalising a new framework aimed at improving government service efficiency for businesses. A detailed announcement will follow soon, and the Prime Minister has agreed to launch the new framework,” Rafizi said after attending the Ask Minister Anything event held in conjunction with the Madani Rakyat programme here yesterday.

Rafizi said the country is on the right track, noting a 5.9% gross domestic product growth in the second quarter of 2024, which surpasses expectations.

“This demonstrates investor confidence in Malaysia’s potential. We must maintain this momentum, which presents a challenge we need to overcome.

“We need to make sure everything within our system can facilitate and allow optimism and interest in our economy to be translated into tangible results as soon as possible,” he said.

During a forum at the event, Rafizi discussed efforts to strengthen the job market as a means to further boost the economy.“We need a robust labour market to make Malaysia a more attractive destination for investors to do business,” he said, adding that initiatives like the Progressive Wage Policy are key to creating a stronger labour market.Rafizi also stressed that the government is focused on economic growth and setting aside trivial political issues that do not benefit the public.

“We are seeing good economic growth, but we do not want this to be something that only lasts one or two years.

“We need to keep the momentum going and not pay attention to things that are not important to the people,” he said.
