PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2024 is poised to be a convergence of great and experienced minds of the global healthcare industry experts, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

The MIH Megatrends 2024 organised by the ministry in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare Bhd (KPJ Healthcare), is designed to bring global healthcare leaders, professionals, innovators and policymakers to discuss cutting-edge advancements, exchange knowledge and foster partnerships that aim to enhance the quality, accessibility and sustainability of healthcare.

It will focus on topics such as advanced AI technologies, equitable health financing, sustainable public-private partnerships, value-based healthcare, precision medicine and safety and quality in healthcare, this event will be a cornerstone for transformative advancements in the industry.

It is also in partnership with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and other industry leaders.

“What is important is for us to seize the opportunities to enhance sharing innovation, best practices and meeting of minds.

“This will be a signature event by way of involvement not just by researchers but also clinicians from various disciplines of medicine with plenaries, discourses, discussions and seminars. This exchange of innovative technologies, latest AI-driven tech in terms of precision patient care but also precision public healthcare,” he said.

Earlier Dzulkefly witnessed the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between KPJ Healthcare and MCMC.

Present during the event were Communications Minister Fahmi Fazdil, Health Ministry deputy secretary-general (finance) Datuk Sri Norazman Ayob, MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Salim Fateh Din and KPJ Healthcare president and managing director.

Dzulkefly also said the rising levels of non-communicable diseases like diabetes and cancer, also called the pandemic of NCDs, is a major factor that cumulatively contributes to the heavy burden of disease that strains the Malaysian healthcare system.

He said the ministry’s strategy to combat these includes improving our primary care services and prioritising data-driven innovations, an approach that MOH is embarking through its digitalisation agenda.

“As we move forward, we believe MIH Megatrends 2024 will pave the way for a collaborative journey towards better health for all especially through innovative and concerted approaches in tackling health challenges,” he said.

During the event, MIH Megatrends 2024 welcomes its official partners, sponsors and exhibitors who will take part in the conference to be held from Oct 25 to 27, 2024.

MCMC’s role as the "Future Healthcare Frontier Partner" for MIH Megatrends 2024 is particularly significant, as it elevates the conference’s standing at the forefront of healthcare innovation.

MCMC’s involvement will be essential in driving discussions on how other stakeholders in technology and advanced solutions can collaborate to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality for the people.

Additionally, Fahmi said the event was a continuation of what MCMC carried out on Nov 29, last year whereby it exchanged an MOU with the Federal Land Development Board (Felda), Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) to encourage digitisation and the growth of the virtual economy.

“I believe MIH Megatrends 2024 and MCMC will surely be able to see not only cutting-edge technology but also in terms of connectivity in the healthcare industry.

“We have seen the emergence of many technologies that are suitable for the healthcare sector. So, we hope it can generate healthy conversation while giving space for health services providers on the needs of future connectivity,” he said.

Chin pointed out that through their collaborations with the Health Ministry and MCMC, they are committed to integrating advanced technologies and insights that enhance healthcare quality and accessibility worldwide.

“These efforts are not just about exchanging insights—they are focused on creating practical solutions that lead to better patient outcomes and more efficient healthcare systems for the people,” he said.

MIH Megatrends 2024 will bring together over 30 global key speakers and feature more than 130 exhibitor booths.

The event will serve as a critical platform for sharing advancements and innovations that aim to enhance patient care and improve healthcare systems.
