SUNGAI BULOH: Police here are working closely with Tenaga Nasional Bhd to put an end to the operations of illegal online gambling dens.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said to date a total of 13 premises have had their electricity supply cut-off.

"We have observed that simply conducting raids and seizures are no longer effective.

"Some of these syndicates simply pick up where they left off," he told reporters at the District police headquarters here today.

He said cutting the electricity supply was a sterner action that not only affects the tenant but also the premise owner.

"We hope that by taking these actions these premise owners will be more proactive in screening potential tenants," he said.

Earlier, Mohd Hafiz witnessed the disposal case items worth almost RM10million at his district headquarters.

Also present was Selangor Criminal Investigation Department deputy chief Assistant Commissioner Ricky Teh and Magistrate Muhammad Syafiq Sulaiman.

Mohd Hafiz said the items disposed of were connected to investigation papers opened between 2019 and 2024.

"We disposed of 1,093 gambling machines, 213 cryptocurrency mining machines, 136,427 boxes of cigarettes, 300 bottles of liquor and 360 beer cans.

"We also disposed of seized copper cables, generators, various tools, and counterfeit cash notes worth RM7,630," he said.

He urged the public to work together with police to combat crime and vice activities.

"We will protect the identities of informants. The public must act as the eyes and ears for the police," he said adding that he and his personnel were ready to receive anyone who wanted to help them in their policing efforts.
