KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 2): Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis have set up a joint company as part of the collaboration between the four Opposition states, said their adviser Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Each of the four states controlled by Perikatan Nasional may hold 25% in the company, said Mahathir, who was appointed adviser to the group, also known as SG4. He was speaking at a televised press conference following his speech at the SG4 Summit.

“We will work towards ensuring that all revenue can be distributed,” Mahathir continued, “so that even states that fall far behind, such as Perlis, could enjoy the revenue from the four states.”

PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, who was also present at the press conference along with PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, also said that the company has been registered as “SG4 Group Sdn Bhd” with the Companies Commission of Malaysia “a few months back”.

The company’s exact nature of business, governance structure, and management team were not disclosed by Mahathir or Takiyuddin during the press conference.

The company would focus on five clusters - infrastructure and logistics; trade, investment, and industry; agriculture and food security; education and human capital; and new revenue, including rare earth, Takiyuddin noted.

“Each cluster will be chaired by one exco member from each state,” he added.
