EVEN though the horrifying tragedy of a woman being swallowed by a sinkhole remains fresh in our thoughts, it would appear that some Malaysians have very short memories indeed.

In a video on X by netizen #UpdateInfo, passerby could be seen crossing the yellow police line and stepping on top of a developing sinkhole. The video showed the tiles around the area already cabin in slightly, hinting to the instability underfoot.

Netizen #UpdateInfo went on to admonish these irresponsible people, stating that if they ever get swallowed by the sinkhole, it would prove troublesome for the firefighters.

But looking at the condition of the tiles, perhaps the body weight of several humans should prove too light to cause the ground to cave in. However, no one should be foolish enough to take their chances.

Even the comment section was littered with criticisms towards them, calling them out for their irresponsibility.

One netizen, however, said that death and life was a matter of fate, that only the chosen one would fall and find their demise there.

According to Aqmalsyah, if the victim acted like he did not see it, people should pretend not to see him if he should sink under.

Netizen goku kakarott alluded to the fact that this nascent sinkhole could possibly collapse after the construction of another skyscraper. Seeing the way Kuala Lumpur has been so thoroughly urbanised, we have to agree.
