Malaysia and Indonesia strenghten ties on energy transition, renewable collaboration at ISF 2024

JAKARTA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof held a bilateral meeting on Friday with Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, on the sidelines of the 2024 Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF 2024), here.

Fadillah, who is also the Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation, along with a delegation accompanied by Malaysia's Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin, had a 30-minute discussion with Luhut at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

Besides topics on strengthening bilateral cooperation to enhance ASEAN relations, they also exchanged views on energy transition and water transformation matters.

"We are looking at how to expand cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia and help each other in the context of energy supply, renewable energy, and increasing collaboration in the ASEAN region," Fadillah told the media.

Fadillah also held a bilateral meeting with Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, to discuss development cooperation in the green energy sector.

Bahlil was appointed to his current position on October 20, having previously served as the Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board.

Fadillah and his delegation are here to attend the ISF forum from Sept 5 to 6 at the invitation of the Indonesian government.
