FBM KLCI: 1,496.48 pts (-9.30pts, -0.62%)

Despite opening higher at the start of the trading bell, the FBM KLCI (-0.6%) succumbed to the selling pressure owing to the renewed political instability after an opposition leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made a press conference claiming majority seats in the Parliament. Market breadth remained negative as losers hammered gainers on a ratio of 896-to-246 stocks. With all 13 major sectors in the red, the energy sector (-2.9%) was the worst performer, dragged down by weakness from Yinson (-13.0 sen), Dialog Group (-7.0 sen) and Petron Malaysia (-6.0 sen)
