FBM KLCI: 1,600.38 pts (+16.47pts, +1.04%)

The FBM KLCI (+1.0%) outperformed its regional peers despite overnight weakness in Wall Street; the key index breached above the 1600 psychological level, mainly boosted by gains in SIMEPLT (+19.0 sen), DIGI (+14.0 sen), MISC (+21.0 sen) and banking stocks. Market breadth remained positive as the gainers led the losers by 577-to-460 stocks. The construction sector (+2.7%) was the leader on the broader market, underpinned by gains in GAMUDA (+20.0 sen), AME (+11.0 sen), and WCT (+4.0 sen), while the energy sector (-1.3%) retreated for a second session.
