FBM KLCI: 1,524.03 pts (-11.38pts, -0.74%)

The FBM KLCI (-0.7%) tumbled on the back of profit taking activities and the key index extended its consolidation phase ahead of the Melaka state election. Market breadth remained negative as the losers trounced the gainers by 653-to-311 stocks. The healthcare sector (-2.0%) was the biggest decliner on the negative broader market as investors took a step back from health care providers and glove manufacturers such as TOPGLOV (-7.0 sen), IHH (-6.0 sen), and HARTA (-14.0 sen) ahead of the FTSE semi annually review. Meanwhile, the energy sector (+0.1%) was the sole gainer.
