FBM KLCI: 1,512.22 pts (-5.38pts, -0.35%)
The FBM KLCI (-0.4%) marked its fourth session losses as the key index tracked the negative momentum across the regional peers while investors kept an eye on rising Malaysia’s inflation and daily Covid-19 cases as well as the new Covid-19 variant found in South Africa. Market breadth remained negative as the losers hammered the gainers by 993-to-194 stocks; there were 11 (out of 13) declining sectors. The healthcare sector (+4.2%), however, outperformed as buying interest emerged in glove manufacturers such as TOPGLOV (+39.0 sen), HARTA (+52.0 sen), and SUPERMX (+24.0 sen) following the emergence of the new Covid-19 variant.
