FBM KLCI: 1,563.20 pts (-1.09pts, -0.07%)

The FBM KLCI (-0.1%) halted a 3-day winning streak on the back of mild profit taking activities in the banking heavyweights. Market breadth, however, turned positive as the gainers overpowered the losers on a ratio of 569-to-389 stocks. The energy sector (+1.7%) outperformed, led by gains in PETRON (+8.0 sen), CARIMIN (+6.0 sen), and DAYANG (+5.0 sen) as Brent oil prices advanced firmly above the US$80/bbl level on the back of positive expectations that the economic growth will support demand.
